Frequently Asked Questions
16:9 is the universal standard for widescreen HD video and most computer monitors. It is the default for YouTube, Vimeo, HD TV, and most desktop screens.
Divide the width by 16, then multiply by 9. For example, 1920px wide → 1920/16 × 9 = 1080px. This tool does it automatically — just enter the width and select the 16:9 preset.
Instagram supports multiple ratios: 1:1 for square posts, 4:5 for portrait posts (maximum vertical space in the feed), and 16:9 or 1.91:1 for landscape. Stories and Reels use 9:16.
Use the "Find Ratio from Dimensions" mode. Enter the image width and height and the tool returns the simplified ratio. For example, 1440×900 simplifies to 8:5.
